Wellington CafeCrawl

Any time Han and I go to Wellington, we make it our business to visit all the trendy cafes for breakfast and coffee, as if we have the funds to do so (we don't). With my number one concern being good long black, I often forget that Hannah doesn't actually care about it as much as I do, she just gracefully accepts my snobbery and the fact we had to walk 5 extra minutes because of me. What a trooper.   With my trip overseas fast approaching, I honestly tried to rein in the spending but there is only so much self control one can conjure when hanging out in NZ's cafe, coffee and craft beer capital.

First and foremost, we were hanging out at the hangar.
Coffee is a religion at The Hangar.  The hangar is a cafe, coffee house and Roastery offering a range of single origin and blends as well as filter coffee and cold drip.  While I was keen to try the coffee 3 ways, it was decided that since I had planned at least 2 more coffee stops for that day, it might be best to only order one. I had the Santa Rita from Guatemala which the waitress recommended to me as a long black and it was heaven on earth.

P.s: Try a bagel with Haloumi, mushy's and smashed avo - so good!

Red Rabbit a cute little bakery/roastery/coffee shop down an ally. They sell a range of espresso and filter blends and have I mentioned the place just smells divine? Hannah got to order her daily scone and it was so comfy and cosy in there we just didn't want to leave.

We had breakfast at prefab and it was busyyyyyyy. Despite this, a very lovely and very organised waits person got us seated as soon as she could and we were looked after superbly (we later saw her head outside with an tray of complementary hot drinks for the line of people waiting outside for a table).  I fell in love with prefab initially because the open space is just absolutely beautiful. Being awfully hungover I ordered a long black with a Saturday detox juice (cold press) with the first thing on the menu I saw which featured Haloumi (naturally) and it was beaut! The coffee was ACME whose bakery i also housed within the prefab eatery.

Of course we went to Customs which is one of coffee supremes Wellington flagship cafe.  They have an array of single origin blends on offer as well as different brewing techniques making it a must-do while also being a safe bet because we <3 supreme (I'm not biased). It had been a long stressful day of shopping for things we couldn't afford and a long black in the sun outside customs was necessary. It helps that twentysevennames happens to be across the road too.

That was probably enough coffee for one day and by this stage there was a glass of Merlot on the water front calling my name.  If you're ever in wellington central I'd say it was imperative that you visit all of these places. Also go to Laundry for a beer and a burger because when is that not a great idea?
