Hostel pro's and cons | a post about too much drinking

Staying in a hostel is an exercise in finding balance. And so far we are failing.  Like everyone here, we drink too many cheap cocktails, sleep in and then lose most of the day lounging around the pool until we have sweated out the toxins enough to start drinking again.
As completely dope as this sounds, the result is that you end up trapped in a hostel that could be anywhere in the world and you hardly go out and see anything.

NB: I lost the first post I wrote so I'm going to rush it

Everyone loves a list so without further ado, here is a muddled list of pro's and con's of staying in a hostel

Pro
You make friends - everyone needs friends.

Pro
I get a break from Hannahs moods and Hannah gets a break from my annoying neediness (love you Han)

Pro
You can party and drink to your hearts content!

Con
All this drinking is killing my body

Con
I have no idea what we did today

Con
If you're not partying you're not sleeping either - the hostel is so noisy at night you literally have no choice  but to get amongst!

Pro
With a bit of space between us, conversation between Han and I now consists of 70% bickering as opposed to 90% (we love each other I think?)

Pro
Its a great place to pregame with new before pub street (or an equivalent)

Pro
Hostels are cheap and I'm poor

Pro
Everything is better with more people or, as my Nana would say "The more the merrier" and as usual my Nana is always right.

Con
What day is it? Am I an alcoholic?

Pro
Mad Monkey hostel in Siem Reap has everything you could possibly need to make you happy (a rooftop bar, a pool, and a bar by the pool)

Con
We missed the sunrise at Angkor Wat because we were too hungover wtf

Con
Planning your day and making the most of your time is just not going to happen

Con
I never want to see another pint of Cambodia (beer) in my life

Pro
The people you meet can give you advice and ideas based on they're on stories and where they've been

Pro
I have dozens more Facebook friends so I think I'm cool now

Pro
You meet people who have have legitimate plans to meet up with later in the trip (mostly at the full moon party)

Con
I might die of alcohol poisoning before the full moon party...

Han and I have decided upon our infinite travellers wisdom (I've been travelling for almost two weeks now so clearly I know everything) that its best to mix it up a bit and try not to end up on a month long bender so where headed to Phnom Penh to see a Macdiarmid family friend, lay off the Cambodia and do some (in Hannahs words) mumsy, touristy things.

If you're one of my Lovely parents reading this post (Mum, Dad, Rach) I promise it isn't that bad. If you're Karan or Mal - Hannah didn't drink at all she's an angel. If you're one of my friends from home, you probably don't read my blog anyway.

Hi Ellie.
